Green Initiatives

At this Annual Scientific Meeting we are committed to acting responsibly by reducing our carbon footprint and the effects on the environment. A few of the initiatives we have undertaken are:

  • Electronic registration has been promoted over hard copy registration forms.
  • Electronic promotion instead of printed material has been encouraged.
  • ASM printed material, where possible will be printed on recycled papers using environmentally responsible inks and processes.
  • During the registration processes we have asked each delegate if they wish to have a tote bag for the ASM, to avoid over ordering of bags.
  • Exhibitors and sponsors have been asked to be more environmentally responsible, when considering promoting to delegates.
  • We have limited the number of tote bag inserts to reduce waste.
  • Name badge return bins will be provided where delegates can recycle their name badges and lanyards after the ASM. Lanyards will be returned to the sponsor of the lanyards to reuse.
  • Hard copy signage will be minimised, and electronic signage will be used where possible. This ASM will not be producing a large foyer banner.
  • Air-conditioning will be turned off when meeting rooms are vacant.
  • ASM hotels have been chosen for their short walking distance to the Melbourne Cricket Ground, therefore reducing the need for transport.
  • Catering numbers have been carefully considered to reduce food wastage.
  • Glassware will be provided at water stations, instead of plastic cups.
  • Recycling stations will be available at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
  • Tote bag return bins will be provided so delegates may return their satchels for reuse.
  • Coffee stations will provide crockery in lieu of disposable containers.
